The IRIG-B Tester is a test device that can be used to analyze and validate the existence of a nominal IRIG-B signal. It can best be utilized connecting the BNC female input to an IRIG-B signal at the source or end device. The IRIG-B Tester will display time (Hour, Minute, Second, Day of Year, Year, or Straight Binary Seconds) or control function bits from IRIG-B signal either in Pulse width Modulation DCLS source or a 1000 hertz Sine Wave (Amplitude Modulated AM) source.
The IRIG-B Tester provides an output buffer circuit to drive test devices such as an oscilloscope or another IRIG-B decoding device. The IRIG-B Tester will drive an oscilloscope to display the low-level clock signal and high-level data signal simultaneously in the AM mode. The same test connection will also provide DCLS signal for an oscilloscope display. It will also provide DCLS signal for an oscilloscope display. It also provides an RS-232 ASCII output for PC interface to record and store actual display information from the operation screen of the tester. The IRIG-B Tester will provide an accurate 100 mS output pulse repeatedly every 1 second for accurate timing or sync tests. It automatically detects the correct mode (AM or DCLS) and provides a function button to continuously monitor or validate actual data (Time or Control Function Bits) of the IRIG-B frame. Reset button is provided for the user to change mode or function to be monitored of a normal IRIG-B signal. The IRIB-B Tester also provides a Load Input button to stress test the incoming IRIG-B signal.
